Getting Ready...

I am super excited for the students from Beijing to arrive. I spoke with another host family this morning and they too are getting things in order for their new "family memebers." This is such a wonderful time for all of us and as a family we are really looking forward to what those two weeks will bring us all. We are thrilled to open up our home and share our lives with the kids and we are expecting to learn a lot about thier culture as well.
As a teacher at the camp, I am anxiously awaiting our start date. We have done some great planning so far and we think that we are going to have some really full days while we are at Oak Point. And, if you have looked at the schedule, you will know that our field trip days will be very full and will offer a great deal of learning and fun!
Only 16 days until they arrive!

Tuesday, July 31

If you are from Beijing: How are American schools similar and different from your school?

If you are from Minnesota: How do you think schools in China are similar and different from our schools?

Thursday, July 26

Write about the field trip yesterday.
Was it what you expected?
What did you find fascinating?
What did you find out about another person?
What did you find out about Minneapolis and St. Paul?

Tuesday, July 24

Write 3-7 I WONDER statements.

For example: I wonder if how I'll communicate with the teachers from China after they leave. Will it be email, this blog, phone, Skype?
or
I wonder if dinner time in China is more similar or more different that it is here.

Monday, July 23

What a full day! Take a few moments to reflect about your day:

Describe what you did all day.
Is this what you thought the day would be like? (expain)
What did you learn today? (think about language, culture, Sculture Gardens, relationships...)
What did we do today that you enjoyed? Why did you enjoy it?
What did we do today that you didn't enjoy? Why didn't you enjoy it?
